Dell Photo 966

Hello.

I have a dell photo 966 which when I updated from vista to windows 7 it stopped working. I have done some research and removed the drivers for the printer completely then downloaded a recommended one from dell. However I follow the installation process and it comes to "connect your printer". The printer is plugged in with the power light on and its not the cable as I tested another printer that we have (we brought a new printer but its very slow at printing). The "next" button is greyed out and I cannot continue until the printer is plugged in so it says.

Any help?

Are other USB devices working on the computer?

Is it appearing in device manager? (It might have a yellow question mark by it)

There are no other usb devices working on the computer (its a laptop by the way)

In device manager it shows up as unknown device with the yellow ! as you described
