Dell Power Supply

Someone i know is wanting to buy this machine:

Dell Inspiron 530/2590

Q6600
3GB
640GB
ATi 2400 Pro

It has a 350W (total power) PSU. He wants to upgrade the graphics card to either a HD4850 or 9800GT.

Is this power supply going to be sufficient. It has one 6 pin PCI-e connector coming out of the power supply.

If it is not enough, where can he get a bigger power supply that fits?

I've heard of many people running a 8800GT off that PSU just fine so a 9800GT should be similar, not recommended though. Any ATX PSU will fit, i know that a HX520 fits no problem

There's no reason why it's not recommended.

I thought Dell PSU's and Mobo's were custom sized to be awkward.

And I think he is gonna go with the 4850.

Just meant that Nvidia recommend a stronger PSU than 350w to run the card thats all. Think pretty much everything in Dells are 'standard' now, ATX PSU, MATX board etc.

A lot of dells will use standard parts now, just have a look at it before you buy something new
