woot i finished my 1st tiny unit on my home machine for ocuk, also made a 2nd account with 3 ancient dell boxes, they may do a wu every year or so but i guess everything helps

Welcome to the team :D

It might not be worth you running those ancient Dell machines to be honest mate. The amount of electricity they're using is likely to be excessive for very little return.

It rather depends on what he defines 'ancient' as - and they don't have to be on 24/7, so there wouldn't be too much leccy wastage. What are the specs?

mikeymike - I remember my first WU ....

..... it was a warm summer's evening and had arrived home from work to a quiet house .... something wrong, Why can't I hear any fans, that must mean .... checks Fahmon .... 775 @ 100% ... waiting to retry (12) Oh no that six hours of crunching time lost, must run two threads on my PIIIS from now on ....

Great work, keep folding and see if you can add a few more before the news on thursday :D

well the electric is free as its my work pc's :] its 2 dell 1.5ghz and 1 dell 2ghz, they all have 256meg memory though so doing anything kills them

they are currently on 172/500, 90/500, and 130/250, been on for a couple of days now, the only problem is if the cleaner see's them on she turns them off for the night :[

The 1.5's aren't great (40-80ppd), the 2ghz should do 60-100ppd. use the -configonly switch to set them to only take the under 5mb stuff and that should help the ram issue.

It causes the clients to download only small WUs so less RAM is used. You wont get as many points, but at least your rigs wont grind to a halt! :D

well one was just about to finish n its got 600points in under a week so ive agglomerated it into my mikeymike account n have 4PCs on that account now :] altho one of the 1.5ghz still says 78/500 so i have low hopes of it ever finishing a single WU :]
