My Dell PowerConnect 2716 has just died following a power outage. Despite being connected to a surge-protected socket the power supply seems to have died. Is it generally worth replacing the PSU's in these things, or should I just bite the bullet and purchase a replacement?
If the latter, can anyone recommend a decent budget 16-port gigabit switch for general home use (a few PC's, printers, IP cameras, Slingbox, Tivo, Squeezeboxes, etc)?

Replacing the PSU would be very easy if you can manage to get hold of one.

It may be a very simple fix such as replacing an internal fuse. If you know enough to recognise the components it's probably worth having a quick look.

ZyXEL GS1100-16 Unmanaged 16 Port Gigabit Switch - i have had one of these in the attic for ~2 years now with no problems at all. i think i won it new for the silly price (then) of 80 quid. they seem to retail new around 100-120 new now.

I did try searching but couldn't find a supplier for a replacement PSU. Dell also have a reputation for using proprietary (i.e. non-standard) parts, so I guess this would be an expensive option even if it's possible?
