I've got a 2850 which doesn't POST. Beep codes claim no RAM but there is some installed. I've swapped, re-seated etc and still got the same beep pattern 1-3-2.

We've got another 2850 inbound to provide donor bits. I'm wondering if I swap the HDs over, will the PERC RAID controller pick-up the RAID config from the HDs? The existing server has an onboard PERC which I think is a 4DI based on the Service Tag.

Cheers,

Chris.

Not sure about the Perc4, but the Perc5 and 6 pick up foreign arrays fine.

If in doubt, move the RAID controllers and disks over together.

Thanks guys. The SCSI controller is built into the motherboard and I suspect that's the dead bit. I have spotted a small RAID "key" (PCB) by the DIMM slots, so I might need to move that as well.

The "new" 2850 turned up, so I wipped the existing PERC config, stuffed the HDs in and it picked up the array. Booted into Windows 1st time which is always nice :)
