I am getting the blue screen ... special_pool_detected_memory_corruption
Technical information
**stop:0x000000c1

I figure it is the memory and will need to replace 1 if not both my sticks.

The maximun ram for this model on Dell's site is 2GB, but as this ram is pretty cheap an there is a 4GB 2 x 2GB verision I wondered whether this might work also.

My choices are these,

or

or the Corsair if there OK too

Have you run MemTest to confirm your memory is dying?

Bear in mind the laptop likely not support 4GB of RAM due to chipset limitations.

Thanks for the reply.

I have run windows Memory Diagnostic and get Failed in more than one section.

Crucial or Corsair? Maybe there is no difference between DDR2 PC2-5300C5 200-Pin SODIMM Dual Channel makes.

The chipset must not support 4GB I suppose, otherwise they would state 4GB instead of 2GB as the limit.
I was just wondering if anyone had tried it.

.

When I upgraded my m70 to 2G, I recall I had to get different memory than what was more common. That was back when the laptop was new. Then after the 3 year warranty expired, so did my display. Moved to an external monitor for awhile, then the video card died.
Good machine even with the above. Have you tried removing the memory, cleaning the modules contacts and reinserting them? Pull the battery before you do. But you probably knew that.

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes I am going to check each stick, but in the meantime I thought I´d see what memory others have put in theirs.

Corsair Config recommend this memory.
DDR2 PC2-4200C5 200-Pin SODIMM
(this is what is currently in the notebook, but Samsung)

Crucial Config recommend this memory.
DDR2 PC2-5300C5 200-Pin SODIMM

Well the Crucial stuff is 667mhz, so you're paying for extra speed you can't use. That said, either kit should work fine.
