Hello

I've been unable to find any reviews about Dell professional P2311H which has recently been introduced. Think I can buy them for about £200 inc VAT each.

I'm a programmer and spend too much time on the PC so am looking for a couple of decent monitors.

Do you know if this is a matte screen? I find the glossy coated screens hard to use for any length of time.

What attracted me to the P2311H:
- this has a pixel pitch of .265
I've found that pixel pitch with 22" monitors with 1920 resolution is too small.
- someone said that led-backlit models have consistent lighting etc..
- low power consumption
- height adjuatable stand

Thanks in advance for any advice.

a lot of programmers rate portrait style monitors, to give more lines of code (And you don't really need wide lines of code)

Consider that?

You really do need wide lines of code.

Well maybe some do, who knows what type of coding the OP does. I know I'm more often requiring more lines than wider lines to see more of my things.

Also, a 1920x1200 screen portrait is like a 1280x1024 screen, but twice the height and really is a joy to use, but as always YMMV

I am finding my 2407 very limiting and looking to upgrade to 30". I did consider running 2 but I prefer the smaller foot print. I did look at the 27" u2711 but like the op would find the text size too small after 10 hrs looking at the screen.

Thanks for comments so far.

I know what you mean about the portrait style of monitor.
Screen height is probably more imortant than width of lines.

At the moment I've got twin monitors setup:
+ 1 x Dell 19" ultrasharp TFT display that's a few years old
+ 1 x LG W2234s with its wishy/washy colours that I've been unable to adjust with any success.
The Dell is a few years older but much more pleasing to use.

I suppose I started using 2 monitors many years ago to work faster with build/debug tools. And, really big (affordable) monitors did'nt exist then.

Think I prefer 2 monitors over 1 really big screen because of the way I work have move wscreens and maximise them.

Maybe I should have a look at some 1920x1200 screens.
Any good contenders you use that:
- have good font size
- matte screen
- adjustable stand
- power/eco efficient
- no speakers needed

Cheers.

I am in the same boat as you: I need a couple of screen to work on to replace my last century set up (a 19" CRT). And I am utterly confused at the offer. But one thing I think is wise to consider is instead of the height adjustable stand having a budget for a screen arm (egotron of similar sort of thing). I am seeing many people having 2/3 screen set up but none mention how much desk surface is taken away. The only draw back is to check for VESA compliant screen.
