I have got a Dell XPS 720 H2C machine that I have had a while, but recently the motherboard on it is on its way out & so now I have had to buy a new case, PSU, motherboard & CPU heatsink etc (warrenty has run out too!) because the Dell system is a BTX setup and has all custom Dell cooling system etc and I was wondering today, do Dell PSU's actually work with standard ATC setup's? I could have just got a direct replacement motherboard from Dell but they want around £350 for a new board, No thanks. I noticed on the Dell 1000W PSU it has a 24 pin connector & what looks like a 28 pin connector too which both go onto the duff motherboard which made me also go for a new standard PSU because I thought that with the 2 different power cables going to the motherboard I thought that the Dell PSU would never be compatiable with a standard ATX setup. Is this true or would the Dell PSU work with a ATX setup with no problems?

Thanks - Liam

from the dell machines iv seen theyll deal with atx easily, no issues. its a very nice case so id keep it if its watercooling anyway.

Only one problem, its a BTX case lol and from what I've seen with inside of the machine, the whole inside of the case is built around the duff BTX motherboard so I thought straight away that no other motherboard would never be able to fit / screw inside of the case. I'm also looking forward to getting the new ATX case and this Dell case is absolutely huge! Also the Dell XPS watercooling system is also built around & screws around the case
