Dell PSU's different to standard PSU?

I've got a sick Dell machine here that is showing lots of power related issues, assuming Dell have probably done something different with their PSU's as they like to mess about with stuff I'm guessing that I cannot just plug in a standard PSU to test it and google seems to agree.

Anybody got first hand knowledge on the matter?

Most (if not all) the Dell PSUs I've come in to contact with are non standard. Genius monoply.

I struggled for ages to get a 410w Dell PSU because standard ones didn't work. I'm about to chuck it on the famous auction site i think

Pretty sure they use standard sizes now. 5 years back they did make you jump through hoops though.

The size is standard, it's the wiring that looks different
