Is there anywhere I can get a copy (if legal) of the disks that come with Dell's to allow you to reinstall?

I have had a couple of times I have needed to reinstall windows on someones PC and they don't have the disk that came with their PC.

I have one for XP Pro and one for XP Home too I think, I would just like to have them all incase the situation arises again. So looking for Versions of Vista and Windows 7.

I would just like to clear my own name by poiting out that they will only install and auto activate on a Dell machine that came with that OS installed anyway so I don't see how having a copy of it to use on a customers PC is illegal?

you would be better with an oem disc, as most of the dell factory restore ones are single use on one pc and have the product key installed to the disc sometimes, you would then be left with a few illegal copies of windows, if you use the oem ones you can just use the customers code to activate

Just use an OEM disk, you don't get all the extra crap installed then and most old discs will need service packing etc anyway so takes longer.

You can get them from the link HERE, or download Win 7 from the link below and use you product key. Also you can order the off dell support HERE, but if your system is out of warranty, then dell will charge.

Hmm thats a good point :D

So I could get an all in one installer for windows 7 OEM and install what ever version was needed and just use the code on the PC?

I thought it changed in Windows 7 and the code has to be used with the braded disk or something? I could be completly wrong though :D
