got a inspiron 1545 and one of my sticks of ram has recently died returning numerous bsod's and a wad of errors in memtest.

this is my first dell product and i have no idea if they expect me to return the machine too, or just the stick of ram.

thanks

they sent me a stick of ram via express delivery which i received this morning. i only emailed them on wed too.

impressive support from dell i must say.

they didn't even want the old stick back

i discovered that they had ended the live chat support for inspirons, so i went for the email support they offer.

once .i emailed them i explained the situation and they stated that a part will be posted the following day via a further email.

excellent support. quick replies via email and all within 1 day of first contact.

im very impressed

One last question and i'll stop asking. Is it cheap ram or is it expensive? Just tryna establish why they so easily sent it out. Still under warrenty i take it... expensive laptop??

its a inspiron 1545 . i got it refurb from a ebay seller last march for 300.

it was actually new and unused with year warranty and red lid and some extras that would have cost near 500 at the time if bought from dell.

anyway , its just a standard warranty called collect and return, but with it being just ram , they just sent it out to me .

its Samsung 6400 1gb and the one i had it was a hynix 6400 1gb both same timings.

regardless of laptop cost, the collect and return warranty is offered as a basic 1 year deal. you pay extra for on site repairs etc
