Anyone had to RMA their monitor to Dell? My 3008 has just died :(

I'm not the original owner and have no reciepts box etc but the service tag still has 602 days of warranty remaining.

Do Dell honor the warranty ok?

Dell are trying to kill you, get it fixed, sell it and buy another brand!

Lol, that's sarcasm I assume.

I'm not sure how you RMA with the service tag, but if you can get hold of the Dell Works order number (on the original box and sometimes the retailer keeps a record of it) then it is absolutely no problems at all.

If you can't, then still give them a call - they are very helpful.

no im being dealdy serious, i will NEVER buy so much as a laptop screw from dell, they have stolen my money, shouted at me over the phone, lied to me (at least twice), ignored phone calls, invented other phone calls... the list is endless

but hey im sure they value you as a customer....
(that bit was sarcasm)

Oh, dell computers - yea definitely don't get one of them. They suck and I hear their aftersales leave much to be desired. I'm sorry to hear you had such problems with them.

However, their monitor department are a completely different story. They make top quality products and back them up with fantastic service. I recieved the monitor in my sig with a single stuck bright pink pixel. I called up dell about the problem, the next day I had a Brand-new-in-box replacement. Friends have had similar excellent experiences with their dell monitors. I can truthfully say I am very happy I have a dell monitor sitting on my desk.

They should honour the warranty for you but they may need an order number from the original buyer which could be a pain. Prob best just to ring them mate.

Also, the replacement they send you will be second hand refurb. The first time I got a refurb from Dell I was expecting them to have made sure it was as new condition etc. Alas, it was covered in scratches and the bezel had fallen off. Went through a few until I got a good one.

I'm not sure how may other companies would get away with "yes sir, if it breaks within 30 days we'll give you a new one, but if it breaks after 30 days you'll get someone elses cast off."

When you look at the warranty they offer, the 3yrs dosn't sound that amazing given the service you actually get.

This is very strange as I rang to inquire about the warranty on my Dell 2707wfp (plenty remaining on the service tag) and because I didn't have the name of the original purchaser, they weren't interested in honoring the warranty...
