Dell SAS 6/IR and Server 2012 R2

After re-assessing my needs, wants and expectations of my home server I've made the switch to Server 2012 R2 with StableBit DrivePool from Linux (Debian) and ZFS

All my data drives are connected with breakout cables to a Dell SAS 6/ir flashed with the LSI IT firmware, this works absolutely fine other than SMART monitoring which StableBit Scanner cannot retrieve.

I can only assume this is a Software based issue as SMART worked fine with the drives under linux, any one experienced similar and found a fix?

Bumping a year old thread but it may be useful to someone using the same HBA.

I solved the problem this evening by enabling "UnsafeDirectIO"
