hi guys i have a d600 latitude and for some reason the back light keeps coming and going, i replaced the right hand hinge a while ago, but more often than not when i turn it on i can hardly see the screen, i know nothing has blown because every now and then it will work fine, any ideas?

Probably the inverter on the way out. Could also be the cable that connects to the inverter - it's just a push fit, but needs the LCD to come out as the cable attaches to the back of the panel.

inverter seems to be the cause as from what i can find on google in relation to this dell model, however is that what a faulty inverter would do? work one min and then not the next? or would it be a slow fade out?

hi, does it get stronger at certain positions of your screen assembly?? i think a faulty inverter would probably be more stuttery than a slow fade.. have u checked to see if any wires are trapped when you fitted the hinge?? id also check the wires themselves are intact, it is very very easy to push through a wire when you are changing hinges/bezels etc

ok i will take the screen apart and check the wires, seen a few invertors on the bay, but they are from hong kong, not sure if it's worth the gamble
