Dell sound bar

I think Dell only make one sound bar, its possibly been discontinued as we couldn't order any more at work.

The 2408 has a standard analogue 3.5mm audio out on it that the sound bar can plug into

there are 2 different soundbars one with pass through so doesn't require an external power supply and one without which does.

Dell AX510 Soundbar Speaker - for UltraSharp and other monitors with a power pass through connector

AX510PA Soundbar Speaker - for E-series, Consumer and other monitors without a power pass through connector (AC adapter included)

also there is this but im not sure what difference it will make

The AY511 Audio SoundBar with Virtual Surround from Dell ™ is designed to enhance the enjoyment of multimedia digital content. Its sleek design, and delivery of great sound perfectly complements the performance and style of the Dell ST, SX and UltraSharp monitors.

Compatible with SX2210T, SX2210, ST2410, ST2310, ST2210, ST2010 & ST2010-BLK and UltraSharp U2410 & U2711 monitors

i know this because i was toying with getting an sx2210 + soundbar :)

I personally didn't like the look of the AX510 for my SP2309W. So I bought an AS500 from the bay of E.

But the SP2309w doesn't have a power port.

So I ended up buying a AX510PA and using the power adaptor to power the AS500.

The other advantage of the AS500 over the AX510 is that it's 7W x 2 compared to 5w x 2.

I didn't know there was more than one soundbar from Dell. I've always had the one with power pass through power.

Quality wise its fine for business use and non serious music listening, Skype calls etc. Defiantly not as good as separate 2.1 speakers but is tidy and out of the way.

Can't argue with you, but way better than standard built in monitor speakers!

I guess the new sound bar (AY511) they have is going to sound much better for nearly £70
