This is also at the top of my list of possible buy, though it has an even screwier resolution! ^_^

EDIT: Saying that for slightly extra I could just get the Samsung, which is supposed to be good too.

Had mine for a few months, paid a little bit less than this direct from Dell (demanded a discount ;))

The screen is bright and colourfull. Added a sound bar from Bay of E. The web cam is quite good, not tried the twin Mics though.

The touch controls are nice and the menu system is fully featured.

Oh and it does 1:1 pixel mapping for those that wish/need to know.

Forgot to mention its a TN panel

sound bar? what's that? TN panel - is that good or bad?

excuse my amateurism but does 1:1 pixel mapping mean i can run it at 1900*1080 without decreasing image quality

A sound bar is something that fits on the bottom of the screen and is an alternative to using desktop speakers. TN panels are typically the cheapest lcd panels, they work fine but many argue that the IPS panels are worth the price premium due to superior picture quality and better viewing angles.

ripped from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_mapping)

A monitor that has been set to 1:1 pixel mapping will try to display an input source without scaling it, such that each pixel received is mapped to a single native pixel on the monitor. This will result in a black border around the image unless the input resolution is higher than or the same as the monitor's native resolution. This technique is helpful if it is desired to stop a video from being stretched or distorted by the monitor

Hi all

Been looking at this monitor, but I can't help thinking everything might be a bit too small at this resolution on a 23" monitor?

Anyone got one? any thoughts?

hmm... and do graphics cards and games support this resolution?

Thanks.

To repeat a previous question, does the high res make text too small?

What resolutions/screen sizes are you using at the moment Stu? The dot pitch on this screen is 0.2486, which is smaller than anything most of us will be used to.

To give you a frame of reference, here's a list of the dot pitch figures for a few common resolutions/screen sizes:-

17" 5:4 @ 1280x1024 = 0.2634
19" 5:4 @ 128x1024 = 0.2944
22" 16:10 @ 1680x1050 = 0.2821
22" 16:9 @ 1920x1080 = 0.2537
24" 16:10 @ 1920x1200 = 0.2692

And this one is:-

23" 16:9 @ 2048x1152 = 0.2486

So everything is going to be slightly smaller than what you're probably used to, but generally speaking it's a good thing to have a smaller dot pitch. Image quality will be really crisp and sharp. If everything looks small, move it closer! :p

I'm using a 22" Samsung 226BW at 1680 x 1050 right now. I believe the dot pitch is 0.282mm. I can see the text on this very comfortably, as I only view it when sat at my desk, so I am about 2 feet away.

Since I sit so close, I'm not too bothered about going 24"+, but extra res will really make a difference. Also, I need a new webcam, so an integrated cam and mic would be a nice extra.

I saw the direct price, which caught my attention.

The Webcam is a 2MP Creative Labs cam and I am told it gives a very good pic at the other end.

Had my SP2309W for 3 or 4 months now and would not be with out it!
