Hi there,
My Dell Studio 15 arrived yesterday. I'm very impressed with it so far, the whole product seems really well thought out and the build quality feels good too.
The laptop has shipped with recovery media, what I presume to be a Windows 7 Home Premium installation CD, aswell as all the driver disks too.
I intend to reformat the computer and do a manual install of Windows, without all the extras that Dell put on. I realise that by doing this, the custom bootsector installed by Dell will be overwritten, thus rendering the recovery partition useless.
Before I reformat and reinstall windows, I have used Clonezilla to take a back of up the entire hard disk and save it to an image file on my removable hard drive. Will this have backed up the boot sector aswell as all the data? If at some point in the future I decide to restore the laptop back to factory settings and restore the image, will the dell recovery parition and custom bootsector functionality be restored?
Regards
