Dell Studio 1735 CPU Upgrade

Is it possible that you can find out the motherboard make and model in it?

Then there maybe a CPU support list available to look at, but saying that, with this being a pre-built system I would expect this info to be hard to come by.

According to this thread, the motherboard will only take 800mhz FSB Socket P processors. So I don't think the T7400 will work as it's 667mhz FSB.

But you've got a lot of choice instead - T8xxx and T9xxx models.

I would have thought the T7400 would work though? 667mhz FSB is lower than 800mhz?

The T7400 is a generation older than the CPU's you mention (T8xxx etc). It is slower and is 65nm instead of 45nm.

So I think it will work, I'd try it anyway.
