would it be possible to swap out the motherboard of a optiplex 755 and put into a sx280 case? from photos both the cases and motherboard layouts look the same any ideas?

they both seem to be micro B-ATX, but the cpu arrangement seems to be in different locations, so the cooling could be an issue as well as spacing. This is only from the quick looks I've seen by searching around google.
I would speak to someone in dell.

just an update it worked fine the 755 board has 1gb lan aswell so nice the gma3100 runs 1080p mkv's without much probs not a bad upgrade for £55 for the MB and got my SX280 with 17" tft for only £75.

current setup of the 755 usff

E6600
4gb ddr2 6400
1tb hdd
Windows 7 Ultimate

got a usb SB card (for 5.1) and dvi to hdmi adaptor so works great on my 1080p TV

Jammir,
How is the gx755usff motherboard working in the sx280usff case?
How is the performance and is there any overheating issues?
Did you use the sx280 fans, processor heat sink, power supply and did you have to modify the sx280 in the upgrade process?

Thank you,

working fine inte SX280 case, no overheating, everthing bar the mobo is from the sx280

it has 64mb on board and 256mb with shared

Iv actually upgraded to the 760 motherboard now

Installed the 755 usff motherboard with no problems except I get hard drive fan failure after the BIOS screen. Did you install a hard drive fan or do you have a work around for this issue.

Thank you,
