Dell tape drives

Hey,

Are dell tape drives any good. Looking at an LTO 3 external? I've only really ever used HP Tape drives before.

They're just Tandberg (IIRC) in a dell case, so no difference really

They are tandberg and they are crap (in my experience)

I prefer HP kit and incidentally it came in cheaper than Dell.

What problems have you had with them spoon? I always find basic tape drives either work or they dont

Their failure rate (in my experience) is much higher than the same HP product, they are also very susceptible to heat which I realise shouldn't be a problem in a proper environment but I have had some VERY dodgy setups (2 servers locked in a cupboard with 1 vent).

We also used to use some tandberg slot-loaders and they used to fail/jam all of the time so we just gave up in the end and moved to LTO4.
