Dell telephone sales

I was wondering if anyone has had any experiance of trying to get a better deal by phoning dell telephone sales?

I have seen a nicely spec'd HP laptop from pcworld, but i prefer the case of the studio laptops. (theres about £150 differance if i spec the dell laptop to be similar to the HP)
 
10 days of offers started with Dell yesterday I would have a look on their website and see what each offer is each day..

They may give some discount but not a great deal I think
 
When I phoned up to order a studio 17 I did not get anywhere, infact due to talking to some idiot in a call centre I instanly renewed my utter dislike for dell and bought an acer... he wouldnt give me a deal and tried to get me to upgrade to 4gb of ram with a 32 bit operating system- needless to say the following discussion filled me with utter shock and annoyance. I HATE DELL- even more than packard bell:mad:.
 
I got the machine is my sig (take delivery Friday) for £665 inc vat and delivery!

I got 3 years warranty added via work so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the beast!

jammy beast. did you play the "i work with bla bla" or how did you win that awesome deal? had you bought from dell before or? tell us your secret ;)
 
Well I kept an eye out on the outlet and saw this last Friday night and brought it there and then.

I then gave the details to my Dell account manager and he added 3 years warranty for me :D

The the hardware itself was just a case of keeping an eye out and grabbing it as soon as I saw it, Only brought from Dell for work before
 
I think they have more leeway as the cost goes up.

When i bought my xps laptop a few years back I had 400 quid off the internet price and a 3yr warranty on top of that..

My mate paid the internet price a few weeks ago so he wasnt happy :)
