Dell U2311H 23"

If you've got the money to buy it, then do so, it's a very good monitor and one of the best you can currently get.

The only thing to look out for is a green-pink tint that some people have complained about. The amount seems to differ from person to person, as well as model to model so you may have to send the monitor back a few times until you get a good one.

Edit:- There's a massive thread on this forum if you want to read up on user opinions and feedback.

I have experience with the similar Dell U2211H. Bear in mind when reading the review that the U2311H has lower input lag so is even more responsive.

I bought one off ocuk about 2 weeks ago, when it was on offer.

Extremely happy with it - no dead pixels or backlight bleed. Loaded the icc profile from tft central (turned the brightness down a bit) and all seems good.

Gaming seems fine, no noticeable lag/blur.

Comparing it to my 2407wfp, theres not a massive difference imo (although the 2407 is 1920x1200 compared to the 1920x1080 of thr u2311h).

Had mine for around a month now, love it. If you're worried about this whole "OMG it's 8ms" malarkey then don't be, unless you have reflexes of superman you won't notice any lag on it.

I received my one last week (went from a 2233RZ) and while I noticed a bit of lag, it's no worse than any other 60Hz monitor, just that I was used to the 120Hz.

It is much better in every other respect though, and the stand is ace - almost worth spending £50 extra on its own over another monitor. I love being able to rotate the screen for web browsing, or when I'm programming.

Colour accuracy seems good (better than the 2233RZ), and the seemingly unlimited viewing angles are cool.

So yeah, I'd recommend it!

Oh, and I wouldn't say there's a blue/yellow tint...

I'm just slightly worried about this apparent blue/yellow tint? Is it actually an issue or are people just being overly picky.
I've not heard of a blue/yellow tint, but I do know a number of users have complained of a green/pink tint:

Bear in mind this is pretty much the only problem with this model if you're unlucky enough to get one that's noticeable to you, otherwise the monitor is top notch.

There's a good chance I'll go for this monitor. Though which 23/24" monitor would you say is one step up from this one?
Currently, it'd probably the Dell U2410 or the HP ZR24w, both of which also have some people complain about tinting issues. That's just my opinion though, maybe someone else (PCM2?) can suggest better models.

You may want to look through the suggestions on this thread.

Well no because the P2450 looks sexy. :D But honestly the image quality is undoubtedly better on the Dell so if your budget extends then yeah - just do it.

In terms of colour, would the dell be better just because it's an IPS panel? Also, would this so called tint issue actually be a problem? Like wouldn't I have bigger issues with a TN panel?

If the tint is a problem for you (didn't seem to manifest itself on my U2211H I was testing) then you could return the monitor under DSR or claim it as a fault. I know this process is very tedious and you'd rather not have to go through all of that - whatever way you look at it the variation across the screen is far worse on any TN panel. The fact it is an IPS monitor does indeed make a huge difference to the colour reproduction. What kind of games would you be playing and what are your other uses, incidentally?

You're right on the money there :)

I've had a u2311h for a while now. Tinting issues are very minor compared to the usual issues that plague all TN screens. If you're coming from TN yourself then you'll immediately notice a substantial increase in image quality, more than any other characteristic. It's not perfect, but it's considerably better.

Put it this way, IPS doesn't completely eliminate all the issues that TN screens have, but it does minimize them by substantial degrees.

Spent a lot on pc bits over the past couple of years; in retrospect the monitor has probably been the most pleasing upgrade of all. Graphics are simply better. It's a pleasure to use :)

If upgrading, I definately wouldn't spend any more than £170 on a TN of any kind, but imo a high quality screen is worth a reasonable premium.

Games like SC2, Crysis, COD, Half Life 2, Mass Effect and the list goes on. I'll also be doing a lot of programming and some photoshop. Also everyday use - browsing the web etc.

I am coming from a TN panel, I've actually never used an IPS before.
