Dell u2410 "No Fullscreen 3D"

Just got a new Dell u2410 and all is fine with the big exception of crashing to desktop or blackscreen reboot whenever I try to run any game.
I have tried both the Catalyst 10.2 and new WHQL 10.3.
Running from a Sapphire HD5970 and have tried both DVI connections and the Display Port, with allways the same result.
When trying to run the Unigine Heaven demo it comes up with this warning messge.

"Can't set video mode"
AppWindow::setVideoMode(): ChangeDisplaySettingsEx() failed
Engine::video_restart(): can't set 1920x1200 fullscreen video mode.

I have tried with my temporary monitor a 20" Samsung and it doesn't have any problems, which points at the monitor setup, but what is there to setup.
Apart from allocating the connections I can't see what there is to setup.

Using Vista64.

Try forcing a lower resolution, and try again, just to see what happens

Ive tried that but interestingly when in safe mode, changing the resolution doesn't do anything.
Still can't run anything in 3D.

i have this monitor and have no problem running games on it at all,onlt ctd i have had is with bfbc2 but that is a known issue and its not the monitor its the game itslef causing this..Just a idea have you installed the drivers for dell?i let windows install then on the update site for me as for everything else in the setup settings i have never touched them except brightness etc.
