Dell U2412 screeen problem?

Hi, I left my computer for ten mins and when i came back on i noticed that the screen had a purple tint to it,I also noticed that i could see icons in the backgroung of home browser page, this lasted for about ten mins or so,but screen has now seemed to have went back to normal , I said to my wife about it and she said it happen to her the other day, anyone had the same problem?

Happened again today, no loose connections, so will buy a new cable.
Is there any better cable than the stock one that's supplied?
