Hi,

I am considering this monitor but I have heard bad reports on how it handles 1080p inputs from external sources like Xbox. Does anybody here use an Xbox or 1080p source on this monitor and how does it look after stretching?

I am considering getting a U2312 instead so I can easily use 1080p sources but I would really like the 1200 vertical resolution for PC work.

Thanks

Yea, if you are going to use a console then you are best either going for a monitor that has a native resolution of 1080p (like the u2312hm) or get a monitor with a larger resolution, but can do 1:1 pixel mapping (so the image isn't strected - just mapped to the correct pixels, leaving the rest dark) - such as the u2410.

with the u2412m it will stretch the xbox image vertically so the 1080 vertical pixels are pulled over 1200 - which doesn't look great. also, it distorts the image slightly- since the video output is 16:9 aspect ratio, but the monitor is 16:10. Here is a review which shows how 1080p signals look on this monitor.

That said, if you think you can live with this distortion and/or you will be mainly using the monitor with the PC then you may want to go for the U2412M anyway - as it is a lot cheaper than the U2410 and a larger size/resolution than the U2312HM.

I've heard about a lot of ghosting and motion blur issues with the U2412M.

I myself have the U2312HM and I can't fault it. Perfect monitor.
