I can not make my mind up whether I should go for the Dell which is 24" and got a higher res or go for the 27" at 1080p. I will be using it for general browsing and films and trying to edit a few photo's.

I've just set up my AOC i2757FM And it really is stunning the texts very crisp Played left 4 dead! and omg! best cash i have spent in a long time.

Went from a 226bw 22 inch to this beast really happy!

had one problem the image didn't fit the screen had to reinstall graphics drivers now its all Great! i had the same dilemma as you but going up to 27 feels like a massive upgrade.

I recently got the Dell u2412m and loving it at the moment. Text is clear, lots of screen space for work and gaming. How far will you be sitting from the screen? Desk? sofa?

Just picked up a 2412m (Dell refurb) from a dell partner for under £200, going from a 1440x900 TN to this the difference is night and day (used the TFT Central calibration settings) and it seems huge, I think a 27" would have been too big for me.

Spec me a monitor

Hiya guys,
looking to for a new monitor, for the last few weeks i've been using my Toshiba 40in tv and while it's done the job, i want something better as it's quite the stretch for 1080p i feel.
Haven't got a huge budget (£150 max), just want the best i can get, all it'll be used for is gaming.
many thanks

davy
Edit- can a passing mod delete this please, half asleep and posted in here :( sorry.

I got a Dell u2412m last Sat. Calibrated it with my Spyder 2 and it is GREAT. Best Monitor around.

Would go with the dell..27" inch at 1080p doesn't seem to great

More nonsense, it seems if enough people on this forum say 27" at 1080p doesn't seem great then it must be true.

Trust me 27" 1080p looks great on a decent monitor, it is not pixelated or stretched. Yes 1440p on 27" is more desirable but will cost you £300-£400 and no doubt lots of folks on here have 1440p monitors and quite rightly sing there praises but the amount of nonsense re 27" 1080p being stretched or pixelated is getting irritating. I can state Far Cry 3 looks amazing on my 27" 1080p monitor. :)

After reading the last post about the 27" 1080p monitors, my head is in a spin again as i would really love the bigger screen. but still worried that it will not be a big enough jump for 1440x900.

why not look for a AOC I2757FH if you go that way, should be a little cheaper, just doesnt have the mobile function afaik

and yeh not an easy choice, i think the response time on the aoc is better so if you mainly game think of that, stand, extra res etc better on the dell

I have an older 27" iiyama and Ifind 1080p fine and the image is great. I also have the amazing dgm 27" ips 1440 and tbh I still prefer my iiyama over this @ if I'd had time to think I'd not have bought the dgm and waited for this more stylish looking aoc as I will never game at the highest res.
