Hi all,

My Dell U2412M has suddenly stopped working. The monitor went blank all of a sudden, and there is no light appearing on the power LED even though there is power coming through the cord. I swapped out the fuse in the plug and changed power cords and still nothing. I suspect its either a capicitor or diode issue, as there is definitely power coming through the power cord. Unfortunately I don't have any soldering or multimeter tools, so I'll probably look at having to get it fixed by at a local repair shop, but I'm looking at potentially replacing it.

I mainly use my monitor for web browsing, word processing, watching video etc. so nothing heavy duty like gaming or video editing. Viewing angles are something that is also important to me (hence why I got the Dell with an IPS panel).

What would folks here recommend getting? Ideally I'd like something around £200. Although I'm willing to stetch the budget a little bit more, if the monitor is worth it.

Many thanks for everyones advice in advance :)

It's usually a diode fault, I've repaired a few of them, caps are normally fine in these monitors.

Would take about 30 mins to fix, but without tools you are a bit knackered, finding the fault if you aren't familiar (e.g. some repair shops) might take longer than the fix, so they may take the mick with the charges.

You can get refurb Dells for ~£109 for 24" with IPS, or 1440p 27" for about £40 more.

Thanks for the replies all. The S2721DS looks nice, unfortunately the Dell website says it won't be available to ship until the 2nd Oct!

I think I'll give repairing the existing monitor a bash for a replacement.

Are there any other makes from Asus, LG etc. worth recommending in the same price range?
