Dell U2515H - 1440p for gaming

I got an offer for a 3 week old secondhand Dell U2515H.
The seller couldn't handle the 60hz coming from a 144 Hz monitor.

I currently have a 24" LG W2443 60 Hz TN monitor and was looking at various
27" 144hz TN freesync monitors to start with.

Off course the U2515H is secondhand, 25" and 60hz, but it is only 3 weeks old and about half the costs of the 27" monitors I had been looking at.

Any experience with Dell U2515H for gaming??

Pros : Cheap, IPS, Good warranty ( Dell 3 year Exchange service)

Cons : "only" 25", 60hz, no freesync

the pixel response times are pretty decent for a 60Hz IPS panel at 9.3ms G2G, with very little overshoot. The lag is also very low at around 9ms signal processing, so as a 60Hz IPS option it's not a bad choice :)

Thanks. I went ahead and picked it up yesterday.
The colors are incredible, not to mention the overall sharpness.
Would there be any point in overclocking the monitor to 70-75 MHz?

i'm fairly certain that even if you got it running at that refresh rate in Windows, it would just drop frames in practice making it rather pointless.

I really want one but the 9.3ms G2G worry's me coming from a fast TN panel . Although I don't play fps just mmo's like wow . I'm not going to notice this right ?

just got one myself, really impressed. Having moved from consoles to pc last month I've been bowled over by the difference. Having said that i don't game competitively so can't comment on response times etc

I have the Asus PB258Q monitor which I believe uses the same panel as the Dell. The display looks brill but the font's are tiny so if you haven't got 20/20 vision then I would advise looking at an alternative monitor.

Just set the proper Windows scaling for high DPI. This monitor basically has same DPI as ~30" 4K so I'd recommend 200% scaling for pixel doubling and no blur.

It has a pixel density of 117.49 PPI vs. ~138 PPI for a ~32" '4K' UHD screen. That is a significant difference! It's more like a theoretical 37.5" '4K' UHD screen and many users can use it comfortably without resorting to scaling. For those who can't, 200% scaling might not be ideal as it's a bit of a waste of real-estate on such a screen. Like using a 25" 1280 x 720 screen in that respect. Most will be better off using application-specific zooming if required and doing so to a lesser degree than '200%' unless their eyesight is rather poor even after correction.

I'm short sighted and certainly wouldn't suggest the U2515H is unsuitable for those without 20/20 vision. Rather than scaling which looks a bit hideous I increased Windows text sizes from the default of 9 to 12. When browsing the web I usually zoom to 133% in Firefox. This is more than enough to compensate for small text size and won't adversely affect image quality.

I have installed windows 10 and it seems to cope far better with scaling than windows 7. Scaling was automatically set to 125%. I will try changing the text size and see what looks best.

Just got mine today :) .

Finally feel got more desktop space, when I went 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 didn't feel at all like I gained much on desktop but 1080P > 1440P defo feels like I've got more :D .

Not fired up Win 10 Pro yet but in Win 7 Pro made no adjustments to OS font / scaling. Luving the higher PPI of display, image seems pin sharp, TBH sharper than my Eizo FG2421.

Fired up SWBF and noted some tearing in it so enabled VSYNC and all good, will be try FRTC instead of VSYNC. Diablo III HUD also looked right @ 1440P, only old game tried so far was Mass Effect, no issue there either.

Waiting for the evening to see performance in low light (ie glow/bleeding).

Rather than make another thread I thought I'd ask in here.

What displayport cable are you using for this monitor as I need one for mine.
