Hi

Im considering getting DELL U2515H however Im pretty sure that my GTX970 wont run certain games Im playing at its native resolution properly (eg heavily modded Skyrim)

Whats your experience with "scalling down" to 1080 for gaming? Any issues? Im expecting 1080 resolution to be all right on 25"?

Thanks

I have the U2515H, with a 970 also. I've had no problems holding 60fps on every game at high/ultra. Granted I haven't tried Skyrim.

Shouldn't run into any issues running at 1080 in games, in theory it won't look as good as a native 1080 but can't imagine it looking bad either.

I have the same monitor, although I don't use it for gaming, I highly recommend it. It's awesome.

It's amazing how the U2515H has as little coverage as it does, I was gobsmacked by the panel and the general design of the monitor. For £250 it is a steal. I actually prefer the 25" over 27".

Scales fine to 1080, especially in games - you have some softening of edeges but on the whole it's hardly noticeable. But anything over a r9 280 and you'll be playing at 1440 at ultra/high.

Running the desktop at 1080p is a different matter - looks blurry and uncomfortable to use for long periods. But you wouldn't use this...

At it's native resolution, 1440, it's fantastic - great colour depth, excellent contrast and lots of real estate.

Currently using 1080p 24" LG Telly screen thingy. I can't decide between going flat out on a FreeSync monitor monitor, or saving few hundred quid and getting this instead!

Straz: Why do you prefer the 25 over 27? I use to have a 27 a while back, so can't decide if having a smaller screen will annoy me or not...

Also, what's the bezel size like if I go down the triple screen route in the future?

Whether you need/prefer a 25 or 27 is very relative/subjective and dependent on how close you are to the screen and what you mainly intend to use it for.

Personally, I find a 27" too big for multiple monitor setups on my desk - it would feel very claustrophobic and all consuming. Plus gaming on a 27" can involve some head turning to see the whole screen (if you're too close) this can get irritating and if you're serious about your online gaming (I'm not) a considerable disadvantage.

But it is subjective and it maybe you like the bigger real estate your best bet would be to look in a store and try it out.

The bezel is very thin and as such sits well in combo - Google some pics you should be impressed.

Great monitor for the money - the 25" being a bargain.

Yeah, primarily I use the 25" for gaming and general usage. Having a 27" previously did involve some head movement, switched down to 23" which was a tad too small. 25" is perfect for me. I use a 42" as my media screen above it so I don't use it for films etc, that may have swayed me to a larger size.

Thinking of going for this monitor so its nice to hear some good comments before I pull the trigger!, looks to be by far the best in my price range and I was wondering myself how it would cope with 1080p content.

I've a gtx780Ghz edition so will be doing the vast majority of my gaming at 1080p till the next refresh.

Anyone tried this monitor with a console connected( I know, I know :p just to make my life even easier)

As mentioned earlier is does an admiral job scaling to 1080, especially in games - you will notice some softening of edges but only if you really look for it.

I experimented with, diablo 3, minecraft, Mordor and BF4 at 1080, and had I not played at 1440p first, I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference so readily.

As for console gaming you'll probably find this review useful - link - he reviews the ouput from an xbox one - fifa, forza etc...

Thanks for that! I considered the 2415h which is 1920x1200 but can't say no to that 1440p goodness. 16:10 aspect ratio for media wouldn't be great either

Oddly enough I nearly went for the 2415h as I was upgrading from 2 x 22" 16:10 Dell Ultrasharps. I didn't want the 24" 16:9 as the screen size didn't really warrant the upgrade.

However, the U2515H hit all my criteria - even at 16:9 - as the extra inch made the vertical height comparable with the 2415h and yet the screen was still bigger overall plus the 1440p is a real pleasure to use and i'll never drop back now that I've experienced it in Office, sketchup, browsing and gaming... It really is a fantastic monitor for the money if you've got the grunt to run it.
