The whole Acer XB270HU 'debacle' has left a sour taste in my mouth, but having experienced 1440p, my Dell U2311H (1080p) feels cramped now and the pixels for some reason look massive.

Thinking about getting a 1440p IPS monitor to replace the U2311H and tide me over until someone other than Acer can do 1440p+/144hz/IPS/gsync properly. Want to stick with Dell or some other reputable company. Was thinking of the Dell U2515H as it seems reasonably priced and has all the specs I'm looking for. My only concern is that 25" is going to be too small for 1440p when using windows desktop. I know you can increase dpi scaling, but would prefer to avoid doing this. I sit about 3 feet from the screen and when I viewed 27" 1440p screen, the text size fine for me, but near the limit of what I would consider too small. Would 25" be too small in that case? I the 27" version of this monitor worth nearly double the price?

Also, for those who do own the U2515H, how is it in general for things like backlight bleed, ips glow, gaming performance, etc? Are there any known issues I should be aware of?

Many thanks in advance!

I like the 25" at 1440p personally, it's really crisp. Thankfully though my eyes are still fairly decent, I'm sure some people would have trouble with it depending on how far you are sitting from the screen.

I've really enjoyed the gaming experience on it so far, surprisingly I don't miss 144hz nearly as much as I thought I would.

Mine had no backlight bleed or dead/stuck pixels. IPS glow is unavoidable but it's really minimal and it's never really bothered me.

Some users have had issues with a yellow tinge, thankfully no such issue here.

Same as above really, can't recommend it highly enough! Windows 8.1 will default to 125% scaling which helps if you find the pixel pitch a bit small. Personally I went down to 100% so I could properly use the screen space.

Well I caved in and ordered it. Kind of a pointless upgrade, but oh well. Wish me luck!

BTW, does having speakers next to an LCD monitor cause any problems?

I use the XB270HU and U2515H side by side. It's brilliant. Colors are certainly better than the XB270HU, but it's considerably slower.

That's nice to hear, as I thought the colours on the XB270HU were noticeably more vibrant than my current monitor. As for the slower refresh and response, not much you can do there really. Right now, the only high refresh rate options are that you either settle for an inferior TN panel, or get an IPS from a manufacturer with abysmal quality control. Neither option is entices me, and since there seems to be absolutely zero news of another manufacturer releasing a high refresh rate, IPS screen with gsync, I'd rather just stick with a good quality 60hz IPS.

Honestly, wish I never bought the XB270HU in the first place as apart from the dodgy build quality and screen defects, it was nigh on perfect. Just playing BF4 at 1440p/144hz/gsync was nothing short of magical.

Just got the monitor up and running, and oh my, it looks so, so beautiful! The packaging, build quality, and general presentation is light years ahead of what I saw with the Acer. I also love the simple styling, especially the apparent lack of border, looks so crisp, clean and professional.

The panel itself is amazing. Colours look spot on, very balanced but vibrant and deep all the same. Contrast is great, has a very inky look as you'd expect. Viewing angles are excellent and you only notice a change when going to extreme angles where the IPS glow starts to creep in. The high dpi looks so good and text, whilst small is still easily readable. Plus it feels noticeably bigger than my 23" dell, but at the same time, not much smaller than a 27"

From my initial inspection, there are no dead pixels and no apparent backlight bleed, with what seems like very uniform backlighting (this is a total revelation for me :p). Yes there is IPS glow, but nothing unusual and once you turn brightness down a bit, it's only really noticeable in the dark with a black image.

I've had a quick blast with some games and it's pretty much the same as my older U2311H in terms of responsiveness and motion blur, i.e. not great but good enough for general gaming. That said, considering there's only one high refresh rate IPS screen on the market, the lack of responsiveness and motion clarity is a fair trade off for the amazing image quality you get.

Seriously, Dell would absolutely decimate the competition and own the gaming monitor market if they were to release a 144hz/Gsync version of this monitor right now, with same build quality and styling.

Thinking of going from Hazro 27 1440p to this. Unsure about the text being to small though. Can anyone reassure me?

I went from 27 to this and didn't find it a problem at all - text wise.

Unfortunately I got a unit that had a warped bezel on it so ended up having to return it and have yet to pull the pin on a replacement - I had a thread on here about it somewhere.

I really didn't want to send it back as it was 100% functional and the panel was perfect but the bezel stood out like a sore thumb - figuratively AND literally!

If anything text is better as it's more crisp and I always found I could zoom in on web pages if need be (not that often) but it looked really good when I did.

I sit about 30" from the screen and can see the text clearly. It's definitely small, but totally readable. I'm short sighted and wear specs; not sure that if makes any difference.

On a side note, why do want to go from a 27" 1440p to this? Seems like a side grade at best.

Personally I would still have opted for a 27" at 1440p, but given the price of the U2515H and the fact that it had all the same features and quality of it's 27" brethren, it was a no brainer for me.

I got this little monitor as my main LG 4k one needed an RMA and I needed something cheap in the meantime, I got it for £200 and it's a really good little monitor. Color reproduction is good, image is very clear and the uniformity is one of the best I've seen. It's the perfect monitor to run in a dual or tripple screen setup. Definately reccomend it!

I just received delivery of the Dell U2515H this morning and first impressions, once I'd got it out of the crazy packaging, are that it is a thing of beauty with thin bezels and a solid stand. The resolution makes a huge difference and 25" is the perfect size, text isn't too small or hard to read. I used the capacitive buttons and despite finding it somewhat mind-boggling that they are not lit, had no problems with responsiveness.

Doesn't appear to be any dead pixels but still need to check for bleed. :)
