I'm after a little help with the above screen i'm just about to purchase and need a few questions answering,

Will i be able to connect my Xbox 360 to this Monitor with a Standard HDMI Lead?

Will my GTX 460 768MB run the Desktop at Native resolution 2560x1440?

Is this a good choice of Monitor?

Really appreciate any help
Steve

1. i have noidea about console

2. depends if your card has a dual link DVI port - check vendor website

3. depends for what :)

sorry for not being much of a help, but you are kind of vague.

Hi mate, will check my card to see if suitable, was really wondering if other people had used this screen for gaming etc or could recommend another 27" for console gaming

a quick google/youtube search reveals that people do indeed use it for gaming, although for example the inputlag values are quite high (review on tftcentral.co.uk)

if you want to use it for PC gaming in its native res, i don't think your current hardware (your sig) would be enough. i do not own any console, so i can't help you there.

It's a great monitor and should work fine as it has HDMI input, i asume u will have an option in the OSD to change the resolution to 1920x1080 for the Xbox, the 460 will run it fine at 2560x1440 but it won't have the horsepower to run the latest games at that res without dropping the graphic settings down.

Thanks for that Krony, will have a search round for net on info on changing res for xbox 360

Hi there I can confirm that this screen works fine with consoles. For info I have my pc connected via dvi, I have my xbox 360 connected via dvi and finally I have my ps3 connected by hdmi.

Obviously due to the high res of the screen the xbox picture will have to be effectively stretched, this is not a problem as the majority of xbox games are scaled from 720p anyway. If this bothers you you can set the image to 1:1 mapping so the 1080 picture from the xbox will be displayed using the correct number of pixels, leaving a black border around the image.

Very good screen with plenty of inputs and excellent colours!

Brilliant Dizzy Dazzler, thats what i wanted to hear,i am getting a new xbox 360 so i will connecting via HDMI and DVI for pc.
Thanks for your help mate

If you have display port on your card you can use that and free up a dvi port too. I game on it (bf3 mainly) and it's fine. Great monitor for everyday stuff and photo work as well.

I have the U2711 also with my PC, X360 and PS3 all hooked up.

A great feature for me is the audio pass through the monitor can do. I have my PC through DisplayPort (with ATi DP audio selected) and the consoles going into a tiny HDMI auto switch and then into the HDMI on the monitor. I then plug my M-Audio speakers into the 3.5mm audio out and I have video and audio switching through the monitor all via the OSD :)

Works really well for me, keeps things neat and the sound quality is perfectly acceptable for me. Audio does occasionally distort when the monitor resumes from sleep but simply turning it on and off again sorts it out.

Hi Riggs thanks for your input,do you have the monitor set 1:1 pixel mapping in order to use the xbox
Steve

No I just have it set to the 'fill' option as the scaling is pretty good, certainly preferable to having 4 large black borders for me :)

You have the option of 'fill', 'aspect' (which is the same as fill for the xbox as they are both 16:9 ratio) or '1:1' which is as it sounds.

Whats Gaming like on this Monitor is the lag really that bad? Gamed once on a 2407 wfp and did not notice much to a now Hazro 27B maybe I'm not the sensitive kind for lag.

Does this lag thingy really effect gamers or will depend on the person playing.

No idea about the 2407 wfp, but the Hazro is about 3 times faster than the Dell u2711, so there is quite a bit of a difference there. That said, I have a Hazro HZ27WD which is only marginally faster than the Dell and doesn't feel slow to me at all.
Yes it does differ from person to person. Some find it intolerable others are like "what lag?".

Artic7, did you get the monitor, does the GTX 460 run it at native res?

I have the same card and am looking at the same monitor.
