Dell u2715h height?

Hey,

I am looking at upgrading my monitor to the Dell u2715h and notice the height measurement from top to bottom at the lowest stand setting is 40.9mm from the official spec sheet.

I literally have just over 41cm of space to put this thing so I am slightly concerned it isn't going to fit and be slightly bigger than the official sizing (like my current AOC monitor is bizarrely!).

I'd be massively grateful if anyone who owns this monitor who could do a quick measurement for me on the lowest height setting. Failing that, I may have to look at the u2515!

Many thanks!

Awesome thanks. I suspect it's going to be pushing it to fit in the space I have unless I tilted it, may have to be the 2515 after all!

IMO the U2515H is a considerably better buy, and so is 1440p in general:

- 25" doesn't dominate the desk but feels large enough if you're sitting 60-90cm away
- Pixel density is absolutely perfect at 100% scaling, FAR better on 25" than 27" IMO.
- Fonts/images are small and crisp, but perfectly readable.
- More screen space than on 1080p monitors.
- Dell colours especially are rich and vivid
- The 25" is about £150 cheaper than the equivalent 27".

My only gripe with the U2515H is the IPS glow towards the bottom of the screen, but tbh it's unavoidable on pretty much all IPS monitors.

Thanks for the info. I found an aftermarket stand that would have allowed the 27in to fit but the points you make are very true, especially price.

I sit about 70cm from the monitor so I suspect the 25in would be adequate and would fit without needing additional stands!

I am moving from a 23.6" 1080p AOC IPS from 4 years ago so should be a nice upgrade!

Indeed, and seriously do not listen to those telling you to go for the 27", if they were of similar price i'd say sway either way, but for the price difference and the fact the 25" carries an even tighter pixel denstity it really is a no brainer.

Like you I upgraded from an AOC 23" 1080p (the i2369Vm) to the Dell U2515H. In terms of the size the Dell isn't much bigger, but that's because the bezels are thinner giving more screen space.

The picture is substantially better though. I did originally have a 4K 27" Acer last year, but the screen coating was too aggressive, it needed scaling and quite frankly 27" is borderline too big if you're going to be sitting extremely close to it. You end up getting used to it, but with a 25" screen you really don't have to move your eyes much to see the whole screen.

FYI, here's a review for the 25" version.

Also worth reading PCM's article on the other good alternative - the AOC Q2577PWQ:

It's the upgrade itch. I get it every other day even with an X99 system.

Your next upgrade path is a <32" 4K monitor, though if you're a gamer i'd wait till either the 1080Ti drops or Volta for the additional graphical power.

Snap also have a X99 system thou mines a Area 51 R2 running quite capable R9 390

My only thoughts on upgrade is breaking out of the case and making my own system with all the bits, but to be honest quite happy with how the system runs with the liquid cooled cpu

Struggled enough convincing the wife I wanted a 4K tv don't think I can see a 32" monitor in my future without divorce proceedings ! But also don't think I have the space

The other monitor I considered was the dell dell u3415w but a bit out of my price range even with the sale of the U2515H

Yep, and the more you think about it the more you will make a rash decision, only to see extremely small gains. The X99 system will last you for 10 years minimum, and overclocks will always keep that X99 system pretty much on par with anything Intel bring out over that time.

I think the whole efficiency factor sways people, even though going from an OC'd 5820K to a Skylake build with the stock 4Ghz clocks will save you the price of a subway sandwich per year.

Your GPU is the only thing you probably will want to upgrade at some point. The U2515H is gorgeous though. I learnt my mistake last year buying into the 4K hype. It's an expensive proposition and in terms of movie/video watching it makes no difference whatsoever.

A 4K TV can be justified, a 4K monitor can't, at least not currently.

No worries, I've pretty much decided on the U2515h. As much as I would love the 27in monitor, it is just too big for the space I have and the price difference is substantial.

I'm just keeping an eye out for it to appear on a daily deal...
