I'm looking to replace my existing Dell S2740L monitors because they are far too reflective and because I'd like a resolution bump for my coding/design work. I've looked at 4k but my hardware, eyes and wallet wouldn't cope so I am looking at 1440p monitors.

I've been offered three U2715H monitors no competitor talk please! but I can't find any reviews, has anyone else already got one or have any feedback?

Is there another monitor in the same ballpark I should consider instead?

Thanks for any input :)

Yeah that sounds like a great deal man. I've been having a look around for reviews but cannot find any. I was looking at the reviews of the smaller 24 inch model to try and give me a better idea but if anything it's just left me with more questions lol. I love the design of the U2715H and the slim bezel. What I really can't understand is why Dell and other brands continue the thick bezel on most models and the slim bezel on only a select few. I'd have thought by now the slim design is something everyone is looking for in a new monitor.

Considering this monitor so looking forward to your feedback greatly.

Specs look perfect, hope it turns out as good as it seems on paper

Cool, would love to see some pics and hear feedback how you get on with them. Specifically interested to hear how you find them for productivity (coding/design) and general windows use in terms of font size and UI scaling.

Finally got everything setup (I had to put in a new PSU, two new GTX970's and did a full reinstall just to clean things up).

Initial impressions are very positive, the image quality is great and the anti-glare coating is effective but not grainy which is a relief. The initial brightness was too high for me so I dialed it back from 50 to 30 which is much easier on my eyes. No dead pixels and IPS glow is there if you look for it but not noticeable in actual use (YMMV).

Build quality seems good, good number of ports although no VGA/DVI which is worth knowing. They do come with a DP to mDP cable so shouldn't be an issue for any fairly recent card but if you are planning to run 3 of them then make sure your card has enough digital outputs or you have the necessary adapters.

The bezel is very thin but there is about 5-6mm of black inside the bezel so they are cheating a bit there (as all monitor manufacturers seem to), I'd say about 8mm of "actual" bezel which is still pretty slim.

Will try to get some gaming done tomorrow and give some feedback on how they perform although I am not a huge FPS player so my opinion may not been all that informed.

All in all I am very pleased :)

Edit: 1 small negative, the packaging is an absolute bar steward to get into, it's like some weird cardboard origami puzzle. I eventually gave up trying to take it out without tearing and just cut my way in (carefully).

I received a Dell U2715H at the weekend, to replace a Hazro HZ27WC Glass that had physically fallen to pieces.

I do not have the means to take any photos at the moment and I'm no expert, but subjectively speaking it seems mostly excellent. The colours do not pop like on my old Hazro (didn't think they would), but the image quality looks very good to me.

Positives:
+Really smart design. Looks very small on my desk for the size of panel, bezel is only 8mm around top/sides and the screen itself is not recessed, it is level with the bezel.
+Seems well built and stand is quite sturdy. Touch sensitive buttons work fine.
+Colours look balanced and accurate (perhaps a tiny bit too much red). Whites look white.
+Light AG coating. Seems a good compromise, no haze or dirty image like on my old IPS U2410 for example. Nice to no longer have to look at my face during dark scenes...
+Have no experience of modern TN screens or 144hz etc, but it seems smooth to me. Notice no lag over my Hazro and it's certainly smoother during games than my old U2410 and 2408wfp.
+IPS glow present but not the worst I've seen. Very little backlight bleed and no defective pixels I can see (crosses fingers stays that way).

Negatives:
-Right half of the screen is noticeably brighter in a low lit room. Whites on the left side of the screen almost look grey/slightly blue compared to the crisp white on the right side. Not quite so noticeable when the room is bright, but a bit annoying.
-Running with a standard DP cable in 1.2 mode produces a momentary black screen every few hours with a Radeon 290. No idea what's causing this. So far no problem using the mini-DP cable provided in 1.1 mode, it's probably my imagination but it feels less responsive when connected like this. (I have no reason to use 1.2 mode so far as I know, but I like higher numbers...).
-Blindingly bright as default, not hard to change, I have set it to 30.
-USB ports are all at the back, for me that makes them totally useless. On my previous Dells they've been down the side. I don't need them, but I shame I couldn't should I have wanted to.

I agree with above, the packaging is also evil!

Thanks for the feedback chaps. Seems positive for a reasonably priced monitor.

Heinz, when you say the "colours do not pop", do you see this as a negative, or something which can be adjusted by saturation?

For someone looking at a lot of photoshop/illustrator work, would you rate this panel?

I meant that the colours do not 'pop' in comparison to my old Hazro, with its glossy panel and glass front. The colours were very vivid and bright on that monitor, perhaps unrealistically so.

The Dell has an AG coating, so it was always going to appear slightly duller in comparison to a glossy screen. I do not see this as a negative though, as I was expecting it. Having said that, the colours are stronger than any other IPS/VA screen with an AG coating I can recall using.

I wouldn't like to say for sure as I do not do any colour critical work and have no way of testing the accuracy of the screen. Nevertheless, to my naked eye, the colours look good: they look natural and well balanced. They don't appear over saturated or washed out and none of the colours look particularly over-represented in comparison to other monitors I've owned which have had slight tints (ignoring the uneven brightness this U2715H seems to have).

Hope that helps.

Okay so not a big deal if it's just the coating.. I'm split between this and the Samsung 27D850D but both are difficult to find details on.

I wonder if uneven brightness is just a monitor by monitor thing? Perhaps!

Yeah, it's probably just this monitor. Not sure whether it's worth complaining about though -I consider pixel faults / backlight bleed to be worse. If I sent it back, with my luck, I'd get sent a real horror show replacement.

I was considering the Samsung 27D850D too, but I read it has fairly bad input lag and uses PWM to control brightness at 30% and below. I also read the 2- tone bezel makes perceived blacks look bad, so I decided to give it a miss. Originally it was the monitor I was going to go for.

On the other hand... haven't seen a proper review of the U2715H yet... I took a punt based on it's specification on paper and the performance of its 24" baby brother.

I've had this monitor for about 10 days now.

In particular playing games is awesome and I haven't noticed any lag in BF4 and the like, in fact my KD's are generally better (could be coincidence or bigger targets coming from 24")

I do have seemingly 'dimmer' areas in the top left and right corners, which was noticeable when I was looking during the first few days use but I'm not noticing it as much now.

Overall I really like the U2715H. Still erring about returning for the dim patches but not sure it'd do much good as I'd definately want a replacement and like Heinz says, could get a horror show job

I'm guessing it is similar to the old model, just newer slim housing that is common these days?

I've got the U2713HM, so it's an older design.

Also Hero, go for it. Return it until you get a good one. If you do it fast, Dell are obligated to give you replacements and not refurbs (you get 30 days I think). That's what I did with my 2 U2713s until I got perfect ones.
