Dell U2913WM do 2560x1440 via Hdmi or only displayport?

My Dad just got this monitor. Can it do 60hz at full resolution via Hdmi?

2560x1080 is supported @ 60hz via both hdmi and displayport. If your lucky it can even go as far as 75hz but it definitely is supported, I have run my pc via both cables with no issues.

It is via over clocking yes, most people who have this monitor have been able to get 75hz, it's pretty easy to do as well.

If you have a nvidia gpu you should be able to create a custom resolution with nvidia control panel. Amd gpus require the use of a 3rd party tool to create the custom resolution. When I say custom resolution I mean 2560x1080 at 75hz.

I'm at work atm, will explain more clearly later if no1 else posts anything informative

I have this screen as part of my monitor set. It really is a cracker for gaming and image editing work, although it's taken a back seat for gaming since I got the Rog Swift to be honest.

If you're going to game on it I seriously recommend that you overclock it to 75hz, which mine also does with ease. It might not sound a huge difference between 60 and 75hz, but it really makes a big difference. Assuming you can maintain 75fps framerate that is.

It's not as good as Gysync and 120hz of course though ;)

That would be great, thanks! I have 970 sli

Ahhhh, it's nice and easy with NVidia!

I no longer have my gtx 670 so this is all from memory:

Open up NVidia control panel (right click on desktop etc)
On the left hand side you should see 'Display', click on that to show a bunch of other sub menus. The one you want is 'Change Resolution'. Within this menu you should have a button 'Customise' at the bottom underneath all the resolutions. Click that and then in the popup click 'Create Custom Resolution'. Also make sure that the tick box above this button 'Enable resolutions not supported by the display' is checked.

Now you need to type in the resolution so: Horizontal 2560 Vertical 1080 Refresh Rate 75 Colour Depth 32 Scan Type Progressive.

Now I cant remember with regards to 'Timings'. You don't need to put anything specific just something along the lines of Auto or something like that.

Next click Test. Hopefully you should still be able to see everything. A box pops up asking if it worked, if so click yes and it saves the resolution. if your screen goes blank then it didn't work, just hit escape and that should bring things back to as before. Now, the resolution should appear within the first popup that arises when you click 'Customise'. Make sure that the box is ticked (it might not be) otherwise it won't show up as an option within the NVidia control panel.

It SHOULD work given that this display tends to even allow above 75hz but it skips frames so is pointless. 72hz is a good one for blurays btw.

Hopefully that helps, it's been a while since I used a Nvidia card :)
