Just unboxed mine and tried a few games to see if I need to upgrade my card ... first impressions:

Looking very good so far, I had 3x21.5" cheap 1080p screeens but I already prefer this for everything ... I am looking for issues but so far that bother me. After a bit more time I'll be sure one way or the other but for me this is quality and the size is perfect!

Well, after some gaming time and fiddling with settings etc ... I have to say that I am really starting to appreciate what this monitor has to offer. Played with ICC profiles too but they don't seem to work for gaming with the 5970 - in windows the profiles I have downloaded seem a wee bit different (not qualified to say if they are really any better) than the stock calibration. And then firing up Visual Studio is a revelation on this thing - really good !!!!!

Be aware that I have not even tried an alternative 30" jobbie for any length of time (just been wanting one for years!!) but the panel replacement warranty, inputs for longevity and general reviews swung it for me as I expect to have it for some time to come. Lag is just about noticable if you look for it and twitch the mouse like mad ... but in games when actually playing I have no issue (ymmv!). Colours are fantastic and gaming is generally superb ... Now just waiting to see what the 6990 delivers ... and I will be sorted for another year!
