Dell U3415W is going back

is the light bleed really bad mate? I've been looking at getting one of these superwide dells myself but i keep reading post after post about how bad the light bleed can be. Think thats made my mind up that i'll go for the samsung VA one

I was playing some DLC on Borderlands 2 ..In dark areas its really noticeable :(

Shocking really coming from DELL

Man, that's some bad bleed. My XR34 only had little patches in the corners, which is about as good as you can expect really but that right there is some BLEEEEEEEEEEEED, it's more bleed than not O.o

I have just got my Dell U3415W and have noticed the same light bleed in the left hand corner. Its fine for bright games but noticeable with batman. The Uniformity Compensation feature didn't help and actually highlighted it a bit more.

The thing is I love the format and was going to try another panel but after reading this I am not sure if its going to be any different.

It is unfortunately a common complaint with all models using this panel. The uniformity compensation feature is designed to enhance the uniformity of lighter colours by way of digital compensation, incidentally. It is not designed to affect (certainly not positively) the uniformity of black.

Very disappointing that these issues continue on monitors this expensive, it really does put me off upgrading.

I have a 27" IIyama 1080p monitor, its the same one you have linked to but the older model at 120hz and I've had zero issues with it, its been brilliant in over three years, I do want to upgrade to a 1440p monitor and wouldn't hesitate to get an IIyama if only they did a 120hz+ model :(

It is a shame that these panels are suffering with this complaint as I can imagine a fair few have been returned because of it.

I noticed that you reviewed the Samsung ultra wide and liked it. What weak and plus points does that panel have in comparison to the Dell U3514W? I have read the colours aren't as good and text might not be as sharp? I am also now thinking of buying the Acer Predator but not sure if I am just going to see the same thing? After trying the ultrawide I really wouldnt mind sticking to the format, if not I will be back at square one. :(

The Samsung is great for gaming and movies and I only sold mine because I had the urge to try freesync, time will tell if I live to regret it

jeez that's horrific bleed, shocking really considering they cost so much! definately not touching a dell or LG ultra wide then. Samsung it is for me! Interested to hear your thoughts on the Acer though, when are you getting it?
