I just would like to know what other peoples opinions are on this screen as im thinking of buying one. I will be coming from a NEC LCD20WGX2, which I know is a very good panel, but I want something bigger now.

Is the Dell Ultrasharp 2707WFP a good upgrade choice?

:)

almost tempted to check out out myself, found a place that sells dell refub ones for £350, but i think the screen might be just too big and i'd be better off getting a 24"??

they have the same screen resolution as the 24" don't they?

what are you planning on using the monitor for?

Gaming, surfing net, watching films etc.

Nice pics in this thread:

I just want a nice boost from my 20" screen. I use a 24" screen at work and it does not seem big enough to seem special. I want to use something that has the WOW factor if you know what I mean. 30" is too big and requires to much gfx card power to run games at native res with all the eye candy turned on. This 27" seems to fit the bill nicely I think, and the build quality seems amazing, its certainly has the bling factor and would look great on my desk.

Personally i'd much prefer 1920x1200 over 27" than over 24". It'd feel huge! and the writing on forums etc would be a better size imo.

I didn't consider one a while back when i was investigating / buying lots of tft's because of the price but now they're only £520 or so? its pretty good and certainly worth giving a lot of thought when comparing with the 2407wfp, only reason i can see to get the 24" over it, is the better colour! (black).

I've had mine for nearly 2 weeks now.

Build is just fantastic, looks amazing. The whole arm/glass base just screams quality and strength. The adjustment is tight and acurate, all in all very very well made.

Picture wise, well I havent done any PC gaming on it yet, but standard XP desktop looks great with a text size simliar to my old 19" but obviously a lot more screen space.

My main use however is for my Xbox360 connected via a genuine MS VGA cable, running at 1900x1080, i.e 1080p HD. Games look fantastic with no noticable ghosting playing burnout paradise demo, PGR4, Forza2 and Guitar Heros 3 (which looks the most impressive).

DVD's also look great through the Xbox although for some reason look rubbish through my PC, not sure why, will have to investigate.

I've got 1 stuck pixel, however I only found it by looking and certainly dont notice it in everyday use. If I find more pop up then i'll make use or the 4 year warranty, which is nice to have.

The ONLY 2 gripes I have is, 1, it's supplied FAR to bright, I now use it at just 25 brightness, otherwise because of the size of the screen it's blinding. Secondly the lack of autosensing inputs, i.e if I've been on the Xbox, switch it off, and then switch on the PC, it doesnt switch over, I have to manually change the input. No big deal and certainly nothing to worry me greatly.

How do you find the dot pitch with this screen as it's slightly higher than most due to the res?

I havent seen a 24" @ 1900x1200 I can't really comment but it's an excellent size and very very useable, although switching on cleartype is a must and really helps things even more.

I can only reiterate what Andrew is saying. It's a great monitor, and that's coming from a Sony FW900! The base does look high quality but I have got it on an ergotron arm. I have only lowered the brightness to 45.

I know what you're saying about dot pitch, but I have my screen set back a bit further on the arm so it looks better, and wearing glasses and being old it is the perfect setup :D

Care to share where you can get the refurbed ones for £350 pls? :)

I think it's the other way around. The 27" has a better 92% color range.

From xtremesystems said:
About the color present, 2407/2707 use same panel as S-PVA from Samsung,
but maybe 2707 use better circuit design or better 92% color range,
Although the same panel, the 2707WFP final present result is better then
2407 after color adjustment, the total color is closer to reality.

This monitor is brilliant, its ideal for PC work but also with its HDCP enabled DVI port running a PS3, 360 Elite or HD DVD player thru it just looks amazing.

Picked up one of these screens today and have to say it's amazing! This is so much better than a 24" screen.

Built quality is mind blowing as well, makes all other plasticy screens look very cheap.

Cool :)

Did you have a dell 24" btw?

Curious how it compares, especially on a ghosting front? i'd imagine pretty identical?

I hated reading forums on my dell 24" compared to samsung 22" before it, the writing was just too small and i bet this is an area the 27" excel's bigtime.

There is no ghosting on this screen at all from what I've seen, either from the PC, PS3 or Xbox 360
