Dell Ultrasharp SP2208WFP 22"

I've got one in front of me now.

Had it for a week now and I'm very impressed, this is coming from a 19" WS Acer and I've previously had the Samsung 223BW which was sent back (dead pixels and very poor viewing angles)

Apart from being great looking and having a ton of connectivity it has lovely rich colours and deep blacks, obviously helped by the dynamic contrast and glossy screen. I use it mostly for gaming and there is not a hint of ghosting, CoD4 is a treat on this screen :D

Being a TN panel it has the usual drawbacks of restricted viewing angles, although compared to other TN's I've used/seen the Dell does very well and doesn't affect use at all.

Is it any better than other top end TN 22" Screens? Probably not but I went for it over other ones because of the looks, connectivity and great warranty. I love it :)

Mine will be used as a normal PC monitor so I'll be sitting in front of it most of the time so I don't think the TN panel will bother me. I'll be using it mostly for browsing/gaming/dvds.

Yeah the TN panel doesn't bother me either. As with most monitors it needed some calibration as out of the box as it had a pink tinge and it was far too bright

Cheers for this. Any chance of some pics? :)

Have you noticed any backlight bleed?
Have you tried out the cam and if so what is it like?

I'll try to get some pics up over the weekend.

It has a touch of backlight bleed but nothing serious and ceratinly nothing to worry about. The camera is excellent really clear and sharp, a nice bonus :)

Cheers Tom, I look forward to seeing your pics.

Currently deciding between this monitor and the non pebble Samsung.

Why are all monitors way too bright when you first set them up, like when I bought my 19" viewsonic over 3yrs ago, it was set up way too bright from out of the box.

this is the monitor i'll be getting well i'll be getting 2 on time i cant wait!!! :D

I wasn't sure if I liked those stands as I thought they seemed a bit flimsy, easy to knock over in a drunken state. The SP2208WFP seems like having a strong stand and future-proof features like the HDCP stuff as well.

The camera is an added bonus but the main features seem to fit what I want in a monitor. I'm just looking for any downsides to it and at the moment the only thing against it is viewing angles, which doesn't matter to me.

and all for an extra £12 over the standard model!!!! now the standard one are really good, as I said i got 2, and there no dead or stuck pixels, cant wait to get one of these.

ow its so tempting, I might get 2.

Well I'll definately be purchasing either one of these or the Samsung at the end of the month.

Just waiting on Badass and some picts to help make up my mind. ;)
