Im looking at selling my old bulky dell studio 1749 (a pain to carry around college all day, its a brick) in replacement for a smaller cheaper laptop, question is, do i go with the v131 and an i3 chip with 2gb ram(ill probably later upgrade to 8gb(bought from ocuk ofcourse!)) and the small sleek body.
Or do i get the 3350 with the same i3 chip but with 4gb ram and a 3g mobile broardband card in it but with a slightly higher price and bulkier build?
Main uses will be usual college work and mabye a few small games, it will be carried around all day.

Thanks for any answers!

Got a few 131s here, they are decent but not sure they will stand the test of time to be honest.

They are however light and a much better put together machine than the 130 that they replaced.

any specific info you want? pics etc?

Writing this on a 3350 now, tis a good laptop, we also have v130's too, again pretty decent. I prefer the 3350 as it has a built in doovde. and has the option for extended battery.

Im leaning towards the v131, purely because of the size, and i can have it with the red casing. But does this look like a good build for £514.80?

Or would this be better for £574.80?

Also, could either of you tell me the battery performance for both of them? As in hours.

Thanks!

I currently have 6 of the v131's with all different users... Ill get an idea of how they are performing battery life wise from the guys they are with tomorrow.

I have the V3350 with the i7 chip and its my only PC. Its really stable and silent.

Upgraded it to dual drives (one SSD in the optical bay) and 8GB ram.

Best Dell I have owned.

Where would you come across such an adapter?
And wouldn't it leave a nasty black plastic strip in the where the front of the disk drive would have been?

Also, is it worth getting an ssd for either of these laptops because they probably only have the sata 2 revision and wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the ssd speeds nowdays?

Sata 3 is fully supported, that came when Dell upgraded to sandybridge. My SSD is in the main drive bay then the HDD is in the optical bay.

The drive bay was from eBay, it black rather then silver, but I don't look at the side.

However the V131 does look good for a very mobile solution. The 3350 is not heavy but the V131 is thinner.
