They're pre-built for the most part. I'd say a 48 hour turn around would be about right.

Vostro is pretty spot on for price vs performance. Build quality isn't bad either.

Nope iirc they were released around this time last year and i bought mine around feb/march time
I bought one (1700) for my gf at the start of the year. Was due to arrive 9 days after the order was placed (was customised a fair bit so had to be built)
Delivery was an absolute NIGHTMARE, by far the worst I've ever come across. Totally inflexible in terms of getting it redelivered, and not meeting their promises:
-Attempted delivery on Monday, no one in at that time.
-Phoned up and asked for it to be delivered on Tuesday, told that wouldn't be possible as Dell have ot authorise redelivery attempts. It would have to be Wednesday.
-Asked if we could collect it from the depot - not allowed
-Told them that nobody would be home on Wednesday, so don't bother trying to deliver it then. Come on Thursday instead please.
-Get home from work on wednesday, guess what, the idiots have tried to deliver it despite being explicitly told not to.
-Phone up to query this and confirm that it would be delivered on Thursday as previously discussed.
-Girlfriend waits in at home all day on Thursday, nobody turns up. Apparently Dell hadn't authorised it so it couldn't be done (in which case why tell us it would be....)
-Laptop finally delivered the following Monday, 7 days later than necessary.
Good value kit (especially the 17"ers) but the courier company / regulations SUCK.

I have a vostro 1500 , great laptop , but as mentioned above Delivery service is useless.
Mine was delivered after the 5th working day of being ordered , initially i did add a bluetooth card to the laptop but was told that it would take 5 weeks to deliver as it was " customised " ! so took the standard model.
