Hey all.

Got an issue i need help with.

I purchased a Dell 2408Wfp from ebay for £220 but its a Rev A00!

I know that i can get dell to send a new replacment for free to me and i would like them to.

But upon giveing them my serial number they say it doesnt exist and can i give them the order number.

Problem is i dont have this number and the seller is looking for it but im unsure if he will find it. Plus the order number wont be a Dell's one as it was purchased from a non dell company!

What can i do to make dell honour there 3 year warrenty without the Order number?

I find it very hard to comes to terms with the fact that Dell does not record there OWN serial numbers.

There is nothing you can do i'm afraid. Dell have tightened up on this recently. You shouldn't have bought it assuming you could get a refurb as now you can't send it back to the seller as it's not faulty.

Also, Dell would try their hardest to find an A00 to replace it with.

Sorry :(

hmmm thats a shame :/ hopefully the input lag wont show when playing games with my Del 2407 A04 and my June 2009 made Hp L2475w...

the selling is looking for the invoice for me but i wont hold my breath :P

Im happy enough though as it was only £220 :D

OMG the inpout lag is BAD! after 1 hour of testing it turns out the 2408 is 2 seconds behind! how does that happen?

The seller found the order made on overclockers and is going to foward me it soon as he recives an email back.

New 2408 here we come!

on dell monitors i have purchased through non Dell suppliers the original order number is usually on a sticker on the side of the box.

When you said you found the order made on overclockers, do you mean the OCUK order number or the Dell works order number (which as CraigN rightly says is on a sticker on the monitor box)?

If it is the OCUK order number then you may still be out of luck, Dell don't care about reseller order numbers and OCUK can replace it as it isn't faulty. You will need to ask the seller to find the box or contact OCUK to see if they kept any record of the Dell Works order number.

If you do get the Dell works order number, then Dell will ask you for that, plus the serial number and the reseller name. The serial number you have already found - but make sure you get it right, some of the 0s look like Os. The reseller name is "Esnet Ltd" if it was bought from OCUK.

Best of luck and please keep us updated on your progress :)

Hi people

Good news for once in my life :)

I called dell again and got through to a very nice chap.

He asked what the problem was and i explaned that the monitor had a Input lag issue compaired to a HP monitor and he sounded worryed about that.

So he asked for the serial number and the date it was purchased.

(date was on the invoice from OCUK)

He looked it up and said " Ok sir here is your DELL order number"

At this point im thinking Wow Great news!

He went on to tell me that he would have a Dell 2408WFP A02 or a Dell U2410 sent to me tomorrow for delivery on monday between 9-12am

No need to send old one back eather!

This is now the BEST ebay purchase ever!

WOW

If you get sent a U2410 I think you can officail label yourself the luckiest ***** on the forums today.

Good show, sir. I look forward to hearing what you get. Are you absolutely sure you don't have to swap over your old monitor? I have never heard of dell giving away a free monitor, maybe you found a REALLY nice customer service guy.

I don't believe that for a second. Dell will expect you to swap on the door step, that is their policy. Absolutely no chance you're keeping the other screen. Sorry :(

Well, Im unsure.

As the Dell monitor is being deliverd to a diffrent address to the collection one.

The dell man on phone said the Rev00 will be picked up some other time after collection.

will wait and see

He will inform Dell. Dell will contact you to rearrange collection or they will get their legal team to follow it up. You do realise you are talking about theft here.

Despite what the drone at Dell CS told you the other screen belongs to them and you must give it back BY LAW.

These are the facts i'm afraid.
