Could someone please enlighten me as to the form/format of this? Alphanumeric? Length? etc etc, I have about 15 numbers on the box and I have no idea which to tell them. I know this probably isn't the right place to post it although it is to do with my Dell 22" Monitor having developed a fault. Impossible to get this information anywhere else I feel.

Thanks, Sam.

On my 2709w box the works order is the top number on the main Dell sticker. It has a "Dell" logo at the top left and a bar code at the top right.

Below the logo on the left it says "Works Order" followed by a 9 digit number. When my 2709w developed a fault I quoted this number (as well as the serial number of the monitor and the reseller) and I got a replacement the next day.

There is no sticker with a dell logo on at all, just three other stickers; one with city link details, one with more overclockers details and one with a long barcode and DP/N and S/N:

Have you tried calling up/webnoting OCUK and see if they kept a record of the number?

A few years ago my Dell 2408WFP developed a fault and I had thrown out the box. The retailer I bought it from (not OCUK) luckily kept a record of the number and I was able to sort out a replacement with Dell.

When did you buy it? I had a samsung hdd which died 2 months in, on the ocuk's support page it said they couldn't help but I called anyway and ocuk were eager to help me out.
Essentially, if it is a recently purchased product and it has gone bad, ocuk should do something about it (being the retailer and all) - then of course taking it up with dell however they have arranged, taking the burden off of your shoulders. The fact that it developed a flaw and didn't arrive at your door with one might make a difference, but if ocuk can get away with sending you to dell they will.

Have you looked on the monitor itself for the number? (wait, doesn't seem to be any labeling on my ultrasharp)

Received it on the 15th of January this year. And I already emailed OCUK and they immediately told me to contact Dell. There is only the serial number on the monitor unfortunately :(

Annoying that you have to go directly to Dell, it must just be the way it is unfortunately. If there is no way to find the Dell works number you need to make ocuk understand. What about the monitor handbooks etc is there anything in there that looks promising? What monitor is it, I have a 2209WA and thinking about it... I can't find a Dell works number either.

edit:
here is my dell label:

(lol at me bothering to blur numbers and leaving the photo info thingy)

The number at the bottom in the middle is 6 digits long. It doesn't say what it is though :S Not sure if it is the dell works number or not

edit:
wow, I didn't know about this. No "dell works number" though

If you purcahsed it from OCUK you dont need an Order number

Tell Dell you purcahsed it via Overclockers UK and that they didnt give an order number.

They should then ask for the serial Number to confirm this.

OCUk will have there own order number for the bulk order of that item and they cant give that to you as it covers more then one item and is for there use
