As I do a mix of home and office based working need to get a laptop, took advantage of early Black Friday deals and put an order in for a DELL XPS 13.4 9310 32GB 1TB with the i7-1185G7 4C/4HT CPU and the 1920x1200 display for around £1200.

I’ll be using it for chrome (5 / 6 tabs usually), and Hyper-V (with Windows 11 Pro) with around 3 VMs (DC, SQL server and a client), plus some sort of VPN client - my only worry is the low power processor, anyone running a similar config able to share some thoughts please ? Have until early December to cancel so happy to consider other options.

Thanks.

id rather go for these two instead, both lenova, :

Have you had a look at =- go for the Lenova IdeaPad 5 Pro Gen 6 (16" AMD) - normal price is £799.99- i just got this 1 week ago - found a £100 discount coupon code on daily mail - £699.99

AMD Ryzen™ 9 5900H -16" 2.5K (2560 x 1440) 60Hz, 350 nits, 100% sRGB, 72% NTSC
16gb ram - 3200,
1TB PCIe M.2 SSD
nvidia 1650 graphics card
2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1 x USB Type-C(full function), 1 x square DC in, HDMI 1.4b, SD card reader, Headphone / mic combo

or the same lenova 5 but it has the 1080p screen, but comes with a 3060 graphics card for £899

OK,
Try checking the hp envy line, past 2 Yrs thr been top 2 in the 13inch laptops with the dell xps

Thanks already looked at the envy but can’t get the same specs as the XPS for the price, so you think the i7-1185G7 will be sufficient for running virtual machines? Bit out the loop with non-apple laptop processors coming from a M1 MacBook.
