laptop has just died

before i sell it for spares has anyone got any suggestions

i left it plugged in charging overnight came to turn it on and nothing

have removed battery, reseated all components and pressed and held in the power button

there are no lights at all on the laptop, but the power supply is working correctly (tested voltage)

any ideas?

There is a special key combination that works in the event the BIOS or a BIOS update has become corrupted, this may work in your case just to get it to power on if it's salvageable.

From memory, I think you hold down the CTRL + ESC keys together & then insert the power cable, the laptop should then turn on automatically (power button not required).

Failing that, sounds like it could be a motherboard issue.

thanks for your advice, no luck though, looks like the motherboard is gone!

dont assume the power supply is good just because voltage is ok. (it probably is though)

I had an HP All in One that has an external power brick, it tested at 19v, plugged in to the pc turned on a small LED at the back to indicate power was connected but PC would not power on.
Replaced the power supply and the PC powered on.
