2 weeks ago I ordered a Dell XPS 17 from Dell. I told the person at the other end of the phone that I needed the laptop before this coming weekend and he assured me that despite the website saying 20 days till delivery, since I had phoned him it would be delivered before this weekend.
Well this week came and I emailed him asking where we were at and his reply didn't fill me with hope.
"Delayed sir. you've ordered a top end laptop with 2nd generation hardware and it takes tim to make it."
"I bet I could make a laptop in a couple of hours if it was my day to day job"
"2nd generation hardware sir, making these things takes time"
I must sound like I'm a ****ing idiot on the phone if he believes I'll accept that.
Anyway I gave him till today to get it shipped or I wanted to cancel. He phoned me this morning and said I wouldn't be getting it till next week at the earliest and if I wanted to I could cancel. So I did.
2 mins later I came to the OcUK website and ordered

I actually wanted this over the XPS but was not prepared to spend over £1000 for a laptop. If I believed in such things, which I don't, I'd probably think fate led me down this path. Fate knew the MSI would be discounted this week by OcUK and knew Dell would let me down.
Moral of the story?
Just wait and order from OcUK and don't waste time with Dell.
Roll on tomorrow and my new laptop
