Im XPS 1330 is coming up to 3 years old now so getting on a bit I guess however there is nothing wrong with it other than a newish charging. When I plug the charger in and boot up it tells me it's the wrong charger and once booted into windows it just states "fully charged" rather than charging. The plug between the charger and laptop seems a little looser than it used to be and there was a time when I could twiddle it a bit and get it charging...

Is there any way of replacing the charging port on the Laptop or is it likely to be a charger problem that a new charger can fix?

you could replace the power jack but i'm sure that's not the issue though. more likely the problem is with your charger rather than power jack.

If it used to work after twiddling the power jack in the socket and now it doesn't I'd be inclined to say that you need the power socket repairing. If you can get hold of another dell charger (the round plug ones still fit aswell) then try that and see if its the same.

Thanks for those suggestions. :)

Unfortunately I can't see me being able to get hold of another charger at the moment however is there likely to be any chance of reparing/replacing the power socket? Is it built into the Mobo on the XPS or is it an easily replaceable unit?

you could replace power jack unit if you have a good soldering skill. it's built in to motherboard and as usual to replace dell laptop power jack is a bit difficult compare to other brand.
