dell xps help pls

hello i hava a dell xps m170 thats running xp that i want to restore to its original factory settings but i cant figure out how to do it any advice or help would be much appreciated

I assume you don't have the original Dell disks?

Try hitting ctrl+F11 or ctrl+F12 (can't remember whch) a few times during boot-up see what happens, you should be able to access the dell recovery

Do you have a copy of XP (& did it come as XP SP1 or SP2)?

sp 2 and no but i have a recovery disk but it asking me for an administrator password but theres not one on there ??

Where does it ask for the password? Try just pressing enter without entering a password?

iv tried that.... when i try to get into the recovery console it ask for a administrator password

Create a password under your user/administrator in Control Panel then use that password.
