So i'm looking at buying a 2407wfp from a website, new, who is a dell manufacturer.

They've informed me they can't guarantee there will be no dead pixels on delivery, but mentioned nothing about returning the monitor if there are dead pixels.

Anyone know dell's stance on this? I've googled around and found some people saying they had to live with it, and some getting replacements, so i'm unsure.

Thanks.

I just got the Dell S2409W and has a dead pixel right in middle of it, called Dell up and they wouldn't replace it unless it had 6 or more. Whatever, the monitor is going back under DSD, I rather be £15 out of my pocket than give them my cash for an inferior product. I might buy it again from OCUK as it is cheaper than the site I got it from. Either that or go for the Acer P243W instead.

I think it's different depending upon the particular model. I think the 'Ultrasharp' high end ones are zero fully dead/hot pixels, but allowable sub-pixels. The lower end are ISO compliant.

well thats still 6 or more... which is silly. How can they set the standard of what it is acceptable or not?? It isn't 100% functional, this is stupid because you buy a monitor at which you look constantly and they expect you to put up with it?

they dont, ISO does. its unfortunate but it comes with the package when buying a cheaper panel.

So 6 or more dark dots, or 1 light dot, warrants a return.

Might go ahead and order it new and hope for the best... or i can get a second hand one (2 years old) for £110 less, knowing it comes with 0 dead pixels. hmm...

Yeah 6 or more usually.

If you phone them up and tell them that you have some kind of picture quality fault and that you've got a dead pixel or 2 then they mostly always give you a replacement ;)
