Are dells completely locked to overclocking?
eg is there an software or something i could use, or if buying an aftermarket motherboard type thing (even though i have in mind its some sort of funky mobo)

just asking its well the dell outlet is damn cheap and probally would need to spend almost twice as much to get the same thing.....

Unless you have an XPS 7xx and an Extreme Edition, you won't be able to overclock a Dell. Not easily anyway.

Dell Inspiron Desktops are mATX form factor though so technically you could swap out the motherboard on one of those.

cheers for that, thought that buying a new case and mobo would do it then by the time i pay for the (say 150) i would be close to what i spend myself, as well as losing the warranty so need to think it all through.
i havnt gamed proper in like 6years+ so i dont know how much gaming i want to do...i know i want spore and crysis, but..... mmmh, it would need to last 3 to 4years as well =S
