Heh, really considering these as the best CFM money can buy.

But are they just too loud ? I realise noise is subjective to each individual, but are they THAT loud really ?

I put up with my 111CFM fan which is outside of the case and almost right next to my ear.

So, the Delta's just too noisy for the airflow they give you ?? Or are they worth every penny ?

as you said yourself it's subjective, i've ran a delta off 7v before and it pushed a shed load of air and cut the noise down a lot, even at 12v it's hardly i can hear myself talk loud lol

There are easier and cheaper ways to get a headache.

Take a look at some panaflos if you want airflow, i know theres a 120x38mm one that does 87cfm and the noise won't be too bad. # fb-120-m1a

Edit: just spotted one that does 162 cfm and i bet its a lot less noisy than the delta. Stick it on a fan controller and wind it down until its bearable. # rb-120sl-hh

Heh, I have a 111CFM fan already, as noted above, but the 162CFM seems like an interesting bet.

More air flow needed.... better cooling ... muwhahaha.

Maybe review sites should have d/l mp3's of the noise generated... that would be a good idea yes.

Silent PC review do, shame that they would never review a delta...

Your 111cfm fan is the white silverstone one right? (about 40dB) There is a huge diference between 40 and 50+ db, buy oone if you must but I expect to see it on the MM within an hour or so - Whats the point of water cooling that deafens you?

Doubles every 3db iirc.

But you try sleeping in a quiet resturant... and its a different sort of noise too, the fan noise will be a constant whine.

My w/c is a pos Thermaltake kit that I bought and installed purely for the kicks of having a cheap water setup. If it wasnt for the Silverstone blowing volumous air onto the 120.1 radiator I wouldn't of had any performance increase over my Tt Big Typhoon, really. As I have it set up now, I've managed to drop my overall temps by about 10 degrees or so (sig needs updating).

I ask about Delta's as eventually in the distant future I'll be building myself a proper W/C custom kit setup, and will be looking at getting a 120.2 radiator with 4 fans in a push pull config.

4 Delta's maybe overkill, but 4 160+ CFM panaflo's sound like just the right job.

Comments ? Opinions ?

My opinion is that the only point of water cooling is to cool well while being quiet, I personally would use 4 of the silverstone fans on a controller (not their own, bit messy having 4 :p) and then you can have it nice and quiet with around 160cfm total or as it is now with 444cfm total.

With watercooling the only limits are your imagination and your wallet.

Add a couple of radiators with quiet fans on them and you will end up with the same cfm as one loud fan, but it will be quiet. It will take up more space and cost more tho.

Watercooling moves heat away from one place, to another where its more convienient to cool it.

The Big Typhoon uses heatpipes to elevate the heatsink off the board, so you can have a big 120mm fan. The watercooling kit you've got just mvoes it to a 120mm radiator somewhere else, so you wouldnt expect much of a cooling increase because your Surface Area of cooling hasnt increased much, and has probably decreased because the Big Typhoons fins are very fine and great for heat dissipation!!!

they are awesome for deaf people :)
everyone else, maybe not

i had one of the 190cfm ones, on 12v goin full pelt. it kept my 2500-M @2.2 cooled to 29 degrees in my shuttle (thats got the heatpipe cooler) and a whopping 32 degrees on full load lol.

if you can bare the noise or if your computer is in another room.........in another house........in another town then all good :)

otherwise steer clear

And dont ever EVER put your finger anywhere near the fan blades when its on... Damn near lost a fingernail that way... Tore it 80% off my finger, blood everywhere...

Fan grills were invented for a reason... Delta's.
